Healthcare in Morocco

Outside of the main towns and cities you will find that the hospitals are fairly basic in comparison to what you expect throughout the UK . It is very likely that staff will not speak English and that specialist treatments and equipment will not be available due to the facilities being old-fashioned.

In the unlikely event that you would have to use the facilities of a hospital, you will find that you will be expected to pay for any charges incurred. Items such as any tests or medication, and even any overnight stays you may have. If it is a medical emergency then there is the opportunity that the treatment will be given free of charge.

As with all trips we recommend that you take out full medical and travel insurance for the duration of your stay in Morocco . You might like to check that the policy included the option of a full evacuation back to the UK . If however this evacuation is needed through the lack of facilities in the hospital in Morocco , your insurance may not cover you. It is also worth looking at the policy to check that there are no exclusions against any activities you may wish to do during your stay.
